Alonna Soderberg
Office Assistant

• About Me:
Born and raised in Eugene, OR, I am a native Oregonian complete with a bit of hippie heritage. It was hard to get shoes on me as a kid and I think a little of that has carried over into adulthood. I was fast to move to Portland, OR after I graduated though and spent the next 6 years working towards a Political Science degree (I was able to get an A.A. but am about a year shy of a Bachelor’s degree). My job experience has ranged from retail to photography. If I’m not working, you can find me either pursuing my passion of photography, reading one of the many books I love, or glued to my computer screen/game consoles playing games. If it’s football season Saturday’s are devoted to yelling at the T.V. as I cheer on my favorite team; The Oregon Ducks.

• What I do at RDI:
As an office assistant I can be found sorting mail, answering phones and typing up the colorful flip chart notes from all these wonderful Ford Institute Leadership Program (FILP) meetings.

• State where I was born:
I’m an Oregon baby.

What I wanted to be when I was 8 years old:
It was either a doctor (this was before I knew what that meant ‘visually’ dealing with everyday!!) or an Astronaut.

• Interesting previous job(s) I've held:
As a teenager I worked as part of the pit crew at a stock car racing track. Stock racing cars need a push start and my father’s job was to use his big truck to do just that!

• One of my personal goals for :
One of my personal goals is to become more stable. I just moved back from California and I would like to get some funds back into my savings for a road trip and a car for the road trip!

• A place I want to visit at least once in my lifetime:
Scotland is a must! I have a rich family heritage there and a personal deep tie to the culture.

• My favorite book and why:
I have at least 10 favorite series. I’d have to say currently anything by Sara Douglass is just fantastic!

• My favorite board game:
I have become a huge fan of Cranium and Catch Phrase. Most weeks a group of friends and I get together for a game night where we have at least 20 different games to choose from.

• The coolest thing someone has done for me:
A co-worker who was just becoming a friend opened up her home to me during a very rough period in my life. She wouldn’t take rent or food money and did all she could to help me out. It’s amazing when you find people with such kind hearts.
