Az Carmen Tribal Community Development Coordinator
• About Me:
I am an enrolled member of the Chickasaw Nation. My grandmother was called Mulsie, which means Green Grass, and her grandfather was called Tecumseh. My name means Pretty and it is an abbreviated form of a very long name. My husband and I are born on the same day and every year I grow one year younger than him. My nature is to rise early and be happy. I paint, draw, make dolls, and generally try to make things I believe are beautiful. My doctorate is in Policy and Management and my dissertation is titled, “Why Don’t They Just Come To School Like The Rest of Them: Recruitment of Native American students Into Post Secondary Education.

•
Interesting previous job(s) I've held:
When I was fourteen I got a job at a florist shop. The owner asked me if I could drive the delivery van and I replied, “Like the wind”, but I had never driven a car, much less a van, in my life! She handed me the keys and off I went. The flowers were delivered, no dents appeared in the fenders of the van, and I stayed long enough to collect my very first paycheck. I had to quit because that was the summer I signed up for Driver’s Ed.
