Heidi Clark Regional Community Development
Coordinator
• About Me:
Though I was born in California, I grew up in Grants Pass, Oregon where 4 generations
of my family were born. I left home to pursue my education which began in Ashland
and ended up in Eugene where I have lived for 20 years. I am a graduate of the
University of Oregon's Planning, Public Policy and Management program where I
focused my studies on community-based planning and non-profit management. Before
arriving at RDI in 1998 I had many professional experiences including starting
and running a family-owned screen printing business, collecting delinquent money
for a software company and a law firm, supervising a shift at a fitness center,
waiting innumerable tables and working at a theater box office. My family, my
friends and the State of Oregon are my passions; I love it when I can combine
them all in the same experience.
• What I do at RDI:
I am the Midwest Oregon Regional Community Development Coordinator. I assist
rural communities, organizations and people to develop strong teams, visions
and strategic action plans for their future.
•
State where I was born:
Bridgeport, California
• What I wanted to be when I was 8 years old:
When I was eight I dreamed of being an Olympic gymnast, Nadia Comaneci to be
exact. I had a regulation balance beam in the family room that I got for Christmas.
•
Interesting previous job(s) I've held:
My first job, when I was 11, was sweeping floors after hours at the Josephine
County Fair. (We often would sneak fudge from one of the booths – I am
sure Dad and Carl never knew!)
•
One of my personal goals for :
My goals for 2008 are to commit to travel the world, even if it is only in my
own backyard. I want to go places I have never been and do things I have never
done. I vow to continue to nurture and facilitate my children to succeed in life
and to spread my wings and enjoy life to the fullest.”
• A place I want to visit at least once in my lifetime:
I hope I go many places before I die actually, but in the near future, I would
like to take my children to Washington DC, Yellowstone and the Grand Canyon.
• My favorite book and why:
I don’t currently have time to read, but when I do, I love Grisham and
Crichton novels for fun reading, I get great reading ideas from Oprah and I like
to read books that are full of ideas on how to do all the things that I am interested
in.
• My favorite board game:
I love cribbage, hearts (not on the computer) and playing Skipbo with my kids.
• The coolest thing someone has done for me:
The coolest? Hmmm, I am surrounded by fantastic people who do amazing things
both for me and the world in general. How do I pick one? Recently my mom came
over and helped me paint the entire inside of my house that was pretty cool!
