• About Me:
I graduated with a masters degree from the Public Policy Program at OSU. My previous
work includes Governors Office in Salem, OR. Previous to that I worked as a Social
Science Researcher for OSU.
• What I do at RDI:
Now, I am enjoying being part of RDI. I have many assignments; however my main
job is to create a stronger connection between RDI’s services and Latinos.
I will be working on developing networks with the Latino community, in order
to build social capital in rural communities. This task includes facilitating
and developing Leadership Training.
•
State where I was born:
I was born in Nayarit, Mexico (near Puerto Vallarta, wow!).
• What I wanted to be when I was 8 years old:
When I was growing up once or twice a year some gypsies, fortune tellers, would
stop by my hometown. I loved their colorful dresses and the mystery of their
lives. When I was 8, I dreamt about having as a glamorous and adventurous life
like them: I wanted to be a traveler fortune teller.
•
Interesting previous job(s) I've held:
Worked in a Video Arcade
•
One of my personal goals for :
I loved to travel; I enjoy learning as much as possible about others cultures.
My goal this year is to visit a new place, either a State in Mexico or the Eastern
Europe Country of Bosnia-Herzegovina.
• A place I want to visit at least once in my lifetime:
Before I die I would like to visit Jerusalem, Israel.
• My favorite book and why:
I like to read in my spare time. My favorite book is The House of the Spirits
by Isabel Allende. I enjoyed how Allende was able to exquisitely capture the
political conflicts in Chile and mixed it with fictitious magical-realistic elements
in some characters. I recommend it!
• My favorite board game:
At home, with my family my favorite pastime is to play Chinese checkers, there
is a fine competition between us, but I usually win.
• The coolest thing someone has done for me:
Someone who I did not know well offered me a plane ticket to go to Mexico, because
she knew I need it to go.
