RDI is a catalyst for community vitality in rural areas. We work with rural leaders and volunteers to expand the knowledge, skills and networks for building communities that foster opportunity, thrive and endure.
Community Vision
RDI envisions a region rich with rural communities that are strong and vibrant as a result of skilled, diverse, inclusive, and abundant local leadership; resilient regional economies; and supportive policies for rural-scale community and economic development.
All residents are thriving, and benefit from opportunities to share in their communities’ success. Because basic needs are met, there is energy for enthusiastic community development and participation. Together, residents share a vision for the future that fuels hope, optimism and positive action.
RDI is a trusted partner for rural communities. We work with a large network of local leaders with diverse backgrounds, perspectives and roles in their communities, as well as partnerships with organizations and institutions that share this vision. As a neutral convener and facilitator, we connect those who work toward strong vibrant rural communities to learn and to take action, both locally and regionally. We bring expertise and perspective to help identify and pursue opportunities to realize this vision.
