Rural Development Initiatives is pleased to offer full and partial scholarships for our upcoming conference, Regards to Rural VI, Friday and Saturday, March 20-21, 2009 at the Salem Conference Center in Salem, Oregon.
Full and partial scholarships are available to those who otherwise would not be able to attend our Regards to Rural Conference. Full scholarships will cover the entire cost of the registration fee while partial scholarships will cover a portion of the registration fee. Both types of scholarships include conference meals for Friday, March 20 and Saturday, March 21, 2009.
Scholarships are limited, so please also consider how you can be creative in raising funds locally to get yourself (and others) to Regards to Rural VI!

Note: Scholarship recipients are responsible for their lodging and travel expenses.
When applying for a scholarship, please consider your commitment to the R2R conference. Recipients are expected to:
Attend the entire conference |

Volunteer at the conference (times and tasks to be arranged) |

Apply the skills and knowledge gained to help their communities |
Report to RDI on what they learned at the conference and how they have applied this in their communities. This information could be used in RDI newsletters and publications. |
Scholarship funds are limited with priority given to the communities RDI has served and those who demonstrate the most need. Please return completed scholarship application by January 26, 2009. Those who are awarded scholarships will be notified by early March.

Q: How do I get a scholarship application?
The simplest and quickest way is to apply online now! You can also print a scholarship application from our conference website or you can contact the RDI office at 541.684.9077. We will gladly mail, email, or fax an application to you today!
Q: Who is eligible for scholarships?
Scholarships are available to rural community leaders and volunteers who would otherwise not be able to attend the Regards to Rural Conference. Scholarship funds are limited with priority given to the communities RDI has served and those who demonstrate the most need.
Q: Can only people previously involved in the Ford Institute Leadership Programs receive a scholarship?
No. RDI has received a variety of funding to support scholarship applicants, regardless of their connection to the Ford Institute Leadership Program.
Q; What does the scholarship cover?
A scholarship will cover the full cost of the registration fee for the conference. This includes keynote presentations, sessions, meals and conference materials provided at the conference. Lodging and travel expenses are NOT included.
Q: What is the responsibility of a scholarship recipient?
Recipients will attend the entire conference, volunteer at the conference (times and tasks to be arranged), apply the skills and knowledge gained to help their communities, and may be required to report to RDI on what they learned at the conference and how they have applied this in their communities. (This information could be used in RDI newsletters and publications.)
Q: When is the Scholarship application deadline?
A scholarship application must be returned to RDI with a postmark date no later than January 26, 2009.
Q: When will scholarships be confirmed?
Scholarship will be confirmed by early March. Those who are awarded scholarships will get a password to register for the R2R conference. Scholarship recipients need to reserve their own lodging.
Q: When do I register for Regards to Rural?
Those applying for a scholarship do not need to register for Regards to Rural until after the scholarship process is over. Those awarded a full or partial scholarship will receive instructions on how-to register online. Those who are not awarded a full or partial scholarship will still be eligible to register for Regards to Rural with the early bird discount.
