Last week, RDI worked with Resource Assistance for Rural Environments (RARE)
AmeriCorps program members from across Oregon in a service project as part of their End of Service Gathering. Twenty-four RARE members broke into teams and traveled to one of seven stretches of the McKenzie River Highway to look at the communities from a newcomer’s perspective, sharing their First Impressions thoughts through a formal assessment.
The First Impressions
program provides information that serves a catalytic role, encouraging community involvement and collaboration. This year, Cycle Oregon
is collaborating with RDI in support of projects in four communities where bicycle tourism is a growing focus. McKenzie Community Development Corporation will host local community action meetings in partnership with the local community centers, where they will discuss assessment findings and prioritize projects for implementation. Given the many successful collaborations between RDI and rural Lane County communities, we are excited for the opportunity to work together again!
